Feb 16, Today’s challenge is to rivet a new sprocket to the brake drum.

Had a fellow make the lower half of the jig from hardened steel and a flat piece of HRS(hot rolled steel), thinking that it should be nice and hard.

I made the upper punch from a piece of steel in the scrap box. I machined the pocket on the Mill with a ball nosed mill to get the rounded profile. Turns out it was harder than the rivets and did the job nicely, as the pictures show:
